Ford Transit ConnectThe Ford Transit Connect replaced the long running Escort Van and revolutionised the small van market at its launch in 2002, offering a bigger alternative to the likes of the Citroen Berlingo and even threatening to steal sales from the lower end of the large panel van market. The 75bhp old-technology diesel is not as refined as the more powerful 90bhp common rail engine. There is one petrol engine - a 115bhp 1.8-litre, which is also available as an LPG bi-fuel conversion. The Transit Connect rides quite smoothly and can be driven with a lot of confidence on twistier roads, with good steering feel and feedback. The rear bumper incorporates a step for easier access to the load area. A single side door is standard, although a second sliding side door can be chosen as an option. Remote central locking is standard, as is a driver's airbag. You have to pay extra for ABS. The Connect has a limited variety of 2 sizes:- SWB Low Roof and LWB High Roof. The Transit Connect Short Wheel Base (SWB) Low Roof The overall length and height of the van is 4308mm and 1814mm respectively and offers 2.8m3 capacity (passenger seat up). The side load entry is 606mm wide and 1040mm high. The rear entry is 1293mm wide and 1145mm high. The floor to roof height is 1193mm. The Connect SWB load length starts at 1760mm with the passenger seat up and extends to 2467mm with the seat folded. The Connect SWB is available in 2.0t and 2.2t vehicle mass weights. The Transit Connect Long Wheel Base (LWB) High Roof The overall length and height of the van is 4555mm and 1981mm respectively and offers 3.7m3 capacity (passenger seat up). The side load entry is 809mm wide and 1181mm high. The rear entry is 1293mm wide and 1316mm high. The floor to roof height is 1364mm. The Connect LWB load length starts at 2007mm with the passenger seat up and extends to 2714mm with the seat folded. The LWB Connect is available only as a 2.3t vehicle mass weight. Engines The Transit Connect has 3 power outputs from one common 1.8 litre diesel (4 cylinder 8 valve) Duratorq TDCi 75ps, 90ps and 110ps. All power variants are available on the SWB whereas the LWB is available with 90ps and 110ps only. Alternative vans that you may wish to consider: Citroen Berlingo, Fiat Doblo Cargo, Nissan Kubistar, Peugeot Partner, Renault Kangoo, Vauxhall Combo, Volkswagen Caddy. |

Cheap Van Leasing. Van leasing doesn't have to be mileage restrictive - you can lease and own the van. Leasing generally attracts the best van discounts and this makes them the cheapest vans. Put a balloon payment at the end or pay it all off as with Hire Purchase - the choice is yours. Van leasing also means that you need less deposit than with HP and if you're not VAT registered you get to spread the VAT over the life of the deal You can also deduct all of the monthly lease payments against tax. |
